GOG.com is a digital distribution platform operated by GOG.com.

The store is known for delivering DRM-free game titles on the platform. In addition to distribute video game, GOG.com have also distribute films. Contents can also be distributed through its optional GOG Galaxy client, which is required for some game titles distributed on the platform.[2] Currently, GOG.com only support email for two-factor authentication.[3]

GOG.com was launched on October 1, 2008 as Good Old Games, before it was rebranded as GOG.com in 2012.

Installation

GOG.com is a storefront which allows games to be downloaded either through separate installers from the website, or through the GOG Galaxy application.

GOG Installers

Game installers can be downloaded from the user's library on GOG.com. The installers are based on InnoSetup and exists in both offline and online variants.

For games bundling the GOG Galaxy client by default, the DRM-free downloads ("classic game installers") are available by choosing More -> Classic Installers on the My Collection page.

GOG Galaxy

Download and run the latest installer from the GOG Galaxy page.
An alternate version is distributed within the Epic Games Store.
GOG Galaxy does not have a Linux version, however the third-party Minigalaxy or Lutris apps can be used instead.

Change the game language

Go To The Settings Tab[citation needed]
  1. Press the arrow button which appears when highlighting an installed game.
  2. Select Settings and from there, you can choose any available language you want for your current game.

Notes

The Settings tab can be also found from the dropdown menu while pressing the More button in a game's hub.
The language used by games can be chosen before installation.

Verify game files

Verify & Repair[citation needed]
  1. Open Galaxy and choose the game from the list.
  2. Go to More, Manage, Verify / Repair.
  3. Follow the steps to verify the integrity and download missing/broken files.

Notes

Update type can be also chosen before installing the game.

Version rollback

Allows you to install a previous version of the game if the latest one breaks something.
Change To Manual Update[citation needed]
  1. Press the arrow button which appears when highlighting an installed game.
  2. Select Settings and in the Updates section, choose Manually.

Notes

This can be useful for games that support Galaxy-exclusive features, such as multiplayer or cloud saves.

Galaxy Cloud

Galaxy Cloud is a feature of the GOG Galaxy client that allows save data for some games to be synced to the cloud. The store allows the user to filter games by whether or not they support cloud saves.

Can't extract BINs manually

Newer multi-part Windows installers cannot be extracted with innounp or innoextract due to using password-protected RAR archives (.BIN).[5]
Archive protection is due to be removed.[6]

  1. Use innoextract with gog_unpack.sh (single-part) or gog_unrar.py (multi-part).

Sales

Sales on GOG.com happen on a regular basis. There are weekly sales that start on Mondays at 12 AM CE(S)T, mid-week sales that start on Wednesdays at 12 AM CE(S)T, and weekend sales that start on Fridays at 12 AM CE(S)T, and are usually themed. They end on the next Monday right as the new weekly sale begins. Additional sales frequently occur, usually themed around a single franchise or publisher.

Big sales usually happen a week or two before Steam's, along with single games every day.
